Kangwon Land announced on the 12th that it has received the highest grade, A, in the '2022 Gambling Industry Implementation Agency Soundness Evaluation' conducted by the Gambling Industry Integrated Supervision Committee (GIS Committee).
The soundness evaluation assesses efforts to enhance the soundness and resolve side effects of gambling industry implementation agencies and has been conducted since 2010 under the supervision of the GIS Committee affiliated with the Prime Minister's Office.
The evaluation covers nine gambling industry operating agencies, including casinos, horse racing, cycle racing, motorboat racing, lotteries, sports promotion betting tickets, and bullfighting, across a total of 16 indicators in four categories. The results are divided into five grades (S to D), and excellent agencies receive incentives such as increased total sales volume and reduced addiction prevention and treatment fees.
Kangwon Land achieved an S grade for two consecutive years starting in 2018 and was not evaluated in 2020 due to COVID-19. In the 2021 and 2022 evaluations, no agency received an S grade, and Kangwon Land received an A grade for two consecutive years, thus earning the highest grade for four consecutive evaluations.
In this evaluation, Kangwon Land achieved perfect scores in multiple categories, including ▲compliance rate with total sales volume ▲monitoring performance of illegal gambling industries ▲compliance with sound operation ▲sanctions against users violating entry management guidelines ▲performance in self-counseling or referrals to external counseling agencies ▲reduction in the number of issues pointed out during on-site inspections, thereby securing the A grade.
Lee Sam-geol, CEO of Kangwon Land, stated, "We will continue to strive to ensure that Kangwon Land is recognized by the public as a sound public enterprise in the leisure and recreation industry."
