On the 12th, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will undertake a housing renovation project to improve the living environment of households with disabled persons in the district.
According to Nam-gu, the total number of households eligible for the housing renovation project for disabled persons in the district this year is 11, and Nam-gu plans to invest about 44 million won in the project to ensure that disabled persons living at home can carry out daily activities without inconvenience.
In particular, the project will support the installation of customized convenience facilities such as bathroom repairs, lowering door thresholds, adjusting sink heights, and installing auxiliary handrails, aiming to improve mobility convenience and the living environment for disabled persons living at home.
The amount supported per household is up to 3.8 million won. Eligible recipients are registered disabled households residing in Nam-gu whose income level is below the average monthly income of urban worker households in the previous year, as well as those living in rental housing. According to Nam-gu, these are people who have significant physical or mental disabilities as defined by the Disabled Welfare Act, which impose considerable restrictions on their daily lives over a long period.
Disabled persons who wish to receive support for the housing renovation project can apply by visiting the administrative welfare center of their resident registration district by the 21st.
