"Help Students Who Give Up Studies Due to Lack of Money" ... Lee Sangchun, Chairman, Donates 50 Million Won to Yeungnam University

Lee Sang-chun, chairman of the Sangroksu Nanum Foundation, donated 50 million KRW in development funds to Yeungnam University (President Choi Oe-chul) on the 12th.

The Sangroksu Nanum Foundation was established in 2008 by Lee Sang-chun, CEO of SCL, an automobile parts manufacturing company, to support educational opportunities for youth facing difficult circumstances.

It is a scholarship foundation founded based on Chairman Lee Sang-chun’s usual belief that “Money is not earned to be hoarded. It should be used to save lives and to educate and nurture excellent leaders who will lead the country.”

Chairman Lee Sang-chun met with Yeungnam University President Choi Oe-chul and handed over 50 million KRW, asking that it be used for the university’s development. Chairman Lee said, “I have been practicing sharing little by little with the hope that no student would give up studying due to difficult circumstances. Although Yeungnam University is not my alma mater, I hope that students who study there with great aspirations can study in a better environment.”

Yeungnam University President Choi Oe-chul said, “Having overcome numerous hardships during a difficult school life and built a solid company today, Chairman Lee Sang-chun will be a role model for students studying under challenging conditions. As a businessperson, he contributes to national economic development and is admirable for opening paths for youth through steady sharing and social contribution activities. I will engrave Chairman Lee’s noble spirit of sharing for nurturing talent in my heart and never forget it. We will devote ourselves to educating future generations so that they can grow into talents who fulfill their roles in society.”

The Sangroksu Nanum Foundation has supported scholarships for over 2,800 youths and university students so far, and has been practicing social contribution activities in various fields such as medical expenses and living supplies support for marginalized groups including children and the disabled. The total amount of sharing activities carried out to date exceeds 5 billion KRW. In recognition of these contributions, the foundation received the Honor Society Award from the Community Chest of Korea in 2013 and the Prime Minister’s Commendation in 2018.
