18 Out-of-School Care Centers Including 'Suyeong Sarang Uri Dongne Jaramteo'

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will operate the Busan-style care model, ‘Uri Dongne Jaramteo,’ at 18 institutions this year.

‘Uri Dongne Jaramteo’ was developed and first operated nationwide by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education in 2018 to meet local care demands through organic cooperation with the community.

It is an out-of-school community-linked care institution operated in familiar local neighborhoods for children by utilizing idle spaces in apartments, public institutions, and small libraries in areas where care demand has surged.

Since January this year, the Busan Office of Education conducted a public contest and finally selected a total of 18 operating institutions, including 17 from last year and one new institution. These institutions have been operating Jaramteo since March after facility improvements and student recruitment.

Through this, the Office of Education has flexibly responded to the excess demand for school care and laid the foundation for providing customized care services that parents can trust.

In addition, the Busan Office of Education operates a ‘Community Care Council’ to strengthen cooperation with local care institutions. The education office, local governments, schools, and community care institutions collaborate to explore directions for the development of local care.

On the 10th at 2:30 p.m., the opening ceremony of this year’s new institution, ‘Suyeong Sarang Uri Dongne Jaramteo,’ was held at Centum Beach Prugio Apartments in Suyeong-gu.

This Jaramteo provides care services to about 20 students from Minrak Elementary and Gwang-an Elementary. In cooperation with various institutions, it plans to operate diverse programs such as ‘reading and writing,’ ‘speech,’ and ‘traditional games.’

Ha Seung-hee, Director of Elementary Education at the Busan Office of Education, said, “Our education office strives to realize ‘Hope Ladder Educational Welfare’ by providing stable care to children through cooperation with the community. We will continue to build an all-day care system to create ‘Hope, Busan Education,’ where children’s dreams become reality.”
