Gyeonggi Province is stepping up to support pet startup companies.


The Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency announced on the 12th that it will provide up to 30 million KRW in funding to prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs in the pet industry sector.


If selected as a beneficiary, applicants can receive up to 30 million KRW in commercialization funds for prototype production, intellectual property acquisition, advertising expenses, and more. They will also be granted free access to the shared startup space at the 'Startup Base Camp' located in Suwon Gwanggyo Technovalley.


The recruitment fields include pet industry-related items such as ▲premium pet food ▲health and care products ▲beauty and fashion items ▲furniture ▲information and communication technology (ICT) combined products.


Pet shops, simple retail or wholesale businesses, and distribution businesses by small business owners are excluded from the support program.


Eligibility requires being a technology-based entrepreneur in the pet industry within the province, either a prospective entrepreneur or an early-stage company less than three years old. Applications can be submitted online through the Gyeonggi Startup Platform.


Kang Seong-cheon, director of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "Through this project, we will actively support laying the foundation for successful startups in the pet industry and help them transition to commercialization." He added, "Going forward, the agency will continue to strive to discover excellent startup items and technology-holding entrepreneurs across various fields."
