First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, was appointed honorary chairperson of the Community Chest of Korea on the 11th.

Spokesperson Lee Do-woon of the Presidential Office conveyed in a written briefing that Kim attended the inauguration ceremony for the 5th honorary chairperson held at the Sarangui Yeolmae Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, that afternoon.

At the ceremony, Kim said, "I am honored to become a member of the Community Chest of Korea, which has cared for marginalized neighbors for 25 years," adding, "I will strive even harder to deliver love and hope throughout society."

Kim also donated funds for the restoration of the wildfire damage in Gangwon Province on the same day.

Spokesperson Lee explained, "The Community Chest of Korea has traditionally appointed the president's spouse as honorary chairperson," and added, "This is the first time that the honorary chairperson and the president's spouse have personally visited the Community Chest to hold the inauguration ceremony."
