BPA, 'Bukhang Waterside Park Safety Concerns' ... Open Only During Daytime for Now

Busan Port Authority (BPA) has issued a statement regarding reports that the waterfront park is not accessible at night.

On the 10th, a media outlet pointed out that although the waterfront park was fully opened, visitors are asked to leave at night, and the park is closed and locked after the lights are turned off, making it inaccessible.

In response, BPA stated that due to concerns about safety accidents during nighttime opening and the lack of a facility operation and management response system, it was decided after consultation with related agencies to open the park only during the daytime.

Busan Port Authority fully opened the waterfront park on the 3rd to convey the message of a "prepared country" and a "prepared city" in line with the visit of the onsite inspection team from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

Subsequently, during a consultative body meeting on the 3rd with Jung-gu and Dong-gu districts regarding the transfer of park facilities, issues such as the risk of nighttime safety accidents and the lack of an operation and management system were raised, leading to the decision to open the park only during the daytime.

A BPA official said, "We are currently in discussions with Jung-gu and Dong-gu offices regarding the transfer of park facilities," and added, "We will address the shortcomings and enable the use of park facilities as soon as possible."
