Gyeongnam Tongyeong and Gimhae Public Bus Depots to Improve Further

Gyeongsangnam-do is investing 318 million KRW of provincial funds to support the expansion of public bus garages for transportation workers in Tongyeong and Gimhae.

On the 11th, Gyeongnam Province announced that it will provide project funds for improving public bus garage facilities to address the shortage of bus garages and improve the working conditions of transportation workers.

According to the province, the total project cost is 1.02 billion KRW, which includes 90 million KRW in national funds and 612 million KRW in city funds, in addition to the provincial funds.

Through this project, the province will expand and improve convenience facilities such as rest areas, shower facilities, and cafeterias for transportation workers within the garages, and support the creation and expansion of new garages in areas lacking sufficient garage space.

Since the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public bus garage support project began in 2020, six locations in the province have been designated as project sites, with four completed and two still in progress as of last year.

The areas include Mulgeum-eup in Yangsan City, Buksang-myeon in Geochang County, Haengam in Jinhae-gu, Changwon City, Chilwon-eup in Haman County from 2021, and Gapo-dong in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, and Burim-myeon in Uiryeong County from 2022.

Kim Young-sam, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, said, “We will do our best to improve the working conditions of urban and rural bus transportation workers and the garage environment within the province so that residents can use route buses safely and conveniently.”
