'Medical School Admission Cancellation' Cho Min Immediately Appealed as Announced

Submission of Appeal on Sentencing Day
Additional Stay of Execution Application Also a Focus

It has been revealed that Cho Min, daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, immediately appealed the first-instance ruling that upheld the cancellation of her admission to the Busan National University Graduate School of Medicine, as previously announced.

According to the legal community on the 11th, Cho’s side filed an appeal with the Busan District Court on the same day as the first-instance verdict, the 6th. At that time, the court’s Administrative Division 1 (Chief Judge Geum Deok-hee) ruled against Cho in the lawsuit she filed against Busan National University to cancel the admission revocation, stating that "there was no procedural defect."

Cho’s legal team expressed their intention to appeal immediately after the verdict was announced. Cho herself also stated on social media (SNS), "I will legally fight against the parts that are unacceptable."

However, it has not been confirmed whether Cho’s side has separately filed a request for suspension of execution in addition to the appeal of the main lawsuit. For Cho to maintain her status as a graduate student of the medical school while undergoing the appellate trial, she must file an additional suspension of execution request, and the court must accept it.

During the previous first-instance lawsuit, the court suspended the effect of the admission revocation order until the 30th day after the verdict date of the main lawsuit, allowing Cho to maintain her status as a graduate student of the medical school while undergoing trial. A court official said, "Since Cho’s side has filed an appeal, it is expected that they will soon file an additional suspension of execution request."

Meanwhile, it is known that Cho attended the book concert for former Minister Cho’s new book, Cho Kuk’s Classical Legal Walk, held at BEXCO in Busan on the same day. Cho had announced her attendance the day before on her SNS, saying, "See you tomorrow in Busan." On the 17th and 28th of last month, Cho appeared on the book concert stages in Seoul and Gwangju respectively, alongside former Minister Cho, drawing cheers from supporters.
