A man in his 50s who grew his hair and fingernails, pretended to be a woman, and approached intoxicated men to steal about 2.7 million won worth of valuables was arrested by the police.
The Cheonan Seobuk Police Station in Chungnam arrested and detained cross-dresser A, who pretended to be a woman and approached men to steal valuables, around 8:50 p.m. on the 4th, according to Yonhap News on the 11th.
According to the police, A approached an elderly man drinking alone around midnight on the 4th of last month at a bar near Cheonan Station in Seobuk-gu, Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan. After gaining his favor, they stayed together at a motel, and A took advantage of the moment when Mr. B was showering to steal cash and cards and flee.
Mr. B reported the theft to the police after realizing the loss. A is suspected of stealing about 2.7 million won from four men in total using the same method in Daejeon and Iksan, Jeonbuk.
The police stated that at the time of arrest, A was about 170 cm tall with a slender build, had long fingernails, and was cross-dressing with a perm hairstyle that extended below the shoulders.
A police official said about the suspect, "We confirmed that he had repeatedly dined and dashed, stealing mobile phones while restaurant owners were distracted." He added, "A detention warrant has been issued, and we are investigating additional crimes."

Meanwhile, a man in his 40s, C, who recently stole items from butcher shops while wearing a skirt, was also arrested by the police. In February, the Seongnam Jungwon Police Station in Gyeonggi detained C on theft charges and sent him to the prosecution. C is suspected of stealing cash, coupons, and fruits from butcher shops and fruit stores twice in 2021 and three times this year.
In March, a man wearing a wig and cross-dressing was caught by the police after entering the women's changing room at a gym. At the time, D, who was cross-dressing with a wig, entered the women's changing room at a gym in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and stayed inside for about two hours.
A gym staff member reported, "A cross-dresser entered the changing room," and the police who arrived on the scene accompanied D voluntarily. Additionally, in September last year, a man in his 20s was caught by the police in Incheon after secretly entering a women's bathhouse wearing a wig and women's underwear.
