Kim Jeongjae "Discomfort with Jeon Gwanghoon's Extreme Remarks... Not Our Party Member"

National Assembly Member from the Democratic Party, YTN Radio Interview

Regarding Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon's remarks such as '200-seat support' and 'Be under my control,' Kim Jeong-jae, a member of the People Power Party, criticized, saying, "Pastor Jeon should work for the party he belongs to."

On the 11th, Kim appeared on YTN Radio's 'News King Park Ji-hoon' and said, "(Pastor Jeon) is not even a member of our party. And I don't understand why there is supposed to be support of 200 seats for our party," expressing his criticism.

Earlier, Pastor Jeon stated, "Politicians should be controlled by religious leaders," and "The goal of the Korean church is 200-seat support for the People Power Party." The day before, he held a press conference at Sarang Jeil Church in Jangwi-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, claiming, "Without religious oversight, politicians cannot self-regulate," and insisted that "(Politicians) should be controlled by religious leaders like in the United States."

Regarding Pastor Jeon's remark, "Be under control," Kim said, "I don't think it even needs to be mentioned," but added, "However, whether we are religious people or politicians, whoever it is, and whichever party, we should not rely on extremism and express extreme behavior."

He continued, "If a party tries to maintain itself by clinging to such extreme ideologies, I believe it will inevitably become alienated from the general, rational, and common-sense public."

Furthermore, Kim said, "The level of politics among the people is very high now," and added, "Therefore, whether left or right, rather than focusing on factional logic, people now focus on who is more rational, who takes better care of the people's livelihood, and who makes their lives easier. Because of this, those who make such extreme remarks can only face political rejection from the public."
