Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, submitted the 2023 first supplementary budget proposal to the county council on the 10th to keep its promises to the residents.
The budget scale increased by 24.9 billion KRW (3.65%) compared to the original budget, totaling 709.1 billion KRW. The county explained that it focused on reflecting projects proposed during the communication meetings with residents held in February, projects requested by towns and townships to alleviate residents' inconveniences, and changes in national and provincial subsidies.
For the budget of projects proposed during communication meetings to keep promises to residents, 4.26 billion KRW was allocated for 32 projects, including ▲ 800 million KRW for the parking lot construction project in Jeongdong 2 Village, Goseong-eup ▲ 400 million KRW for road widening and expansion of County Road No. 17 (Oegal to Jongsang) ▲ 200 million KRW for removal of disaster risk factors in Osan District, Sangri-myeon ▲ 100 million KRW for installation of soundproof walls at the Yeong-o Sports Park ▲ 100 million KRW for maintenance of the embankment road at Suyangcheon, Hail-myeon ▲ 100 million KRW for construction of a detention basin in Chogok District, Maam-myeon.
Additionally, for projects aimed at alleviating residents' inconveniences, the budget includes ▲ 275 million KRW for village road and access road maintenance ▲ 210 million KRW for small-scale agricultural infrastructure maintenance (farm roads, irrigation and drainage channels) ▲ 210 million KRW for river maintenance ▲ 610 million KRW for expansion of senior centers and village halls ▲ 200 million KRW for maintenance of Yanghwa 2secheon in Daega ▲ 300 million KRW for road widening and expansion in Sinji Village, Maam ▲ 500 million KRW for road construction from Gyosa Intersection to Naemuryang Entrance ▲ 500 million KRW for road widening and expansion in Teogol Village, Daega ▲ 500 million KRW for sewage pipeline maintenance in Yongsan District, Georyu ▲ 150 million KRW for road widening and expansion of Bonghwagol Village entrance, Hai.
Other major ongoing project budgets include ▲ 1.484 billion KRW for renovation of the Culture and Sports Center (swimming pool) ▲ 940 million KRW for land acquisition for the construction of Goseong Eagle Ecological Restoration Center ▲ 300 million KRW for the construction of a public parking lot in Seongnae, Goseong-eup ▲ 300 million KRW for the creation of a relocation complex for flood prevention along Yeongcheon River ▲ 200 million KRW for installation of an outdoor media facade at Danghangpo Tourist Site ▲ 200 million KRW for maintenance of the ecological trail at Daega Reservoir ▲ 180 million KRW for the establishment of an operational strategy for the Marine Healing Center ▲ 170 million KRW for interest-free rental deposit loans for low-income households ▲ 110 million KRW for the construction of an animal protection center.
County Governor Sang-geun Lee said, “The supplementary budget proposal submitted this time was prepared with the necessary funds to quickly resolve projects closely related to residents’ lives, who are suffering from high inflation and high interest rates, and to revitalize the local economy. We will promptly execute the budget to solve local issues as soon as it is finalized, especially to support residents facing difficulties due to the recent economic downturn.”
The supplementary budget proposal submitted by Goseong-gun will be reviewed and approved during the 282nd Goseong County Council extraordinary session and will be finalized on the 21st.
