Incheon City Launches Human Rights Survey for Disabled Athletes

Incheon City has launched a human rights survey for athletes with disabilities.

On the 11th, the city announced that the Incheon Disability Rights Advocacy Agency, together with the Incheon National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, has begun a human rights survey of athletes with disabilities.

The survey will be conducted over seven months, from this month through November. It aims to understand the human rights conditions of athletes with disabilities through questionnaires and human rights investigations targeting athletes and coaches affiliated with the Incheon City Disabled Sports Association.

Based on the results of the human rights survey, the city plans to strengthen the prevention of human rights violations against people with disabilities and use the research findings as policy data for the future development of disabled sports in Incheon.

Professor Jeon Ji-hye of the Incheon National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, who is leading the research, stated, "The human rights issues of athletes with disabilities have been subject to several corrective recommendations through the National Human Rights Commission, making this research essential. Since this is the first time such a study is conducted in Incheon, I will carry out this research with a strong sense of responsibility."
