Samsung Changwon Hospital Professor Kim Dohyung's Team Selected for AI Voucher Support Project

Professor Dohyung Kim's team from the Department of Neurology at Sungkyunkwan University Samsung Changwon Hospital has been selected as a medical demand institution for the ‘2023 AI Voucher Support Project’ organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.

The AI Voucher Support Project is a government initiative that supports companies needing to apply AI products and services to adopt the optimal AI solutions. Demand institutions use vouchers provided by the government to purchase and utilize necessary services from desired AI solution companies, thereby promoting digital transformation.

Professor Kim's team plans to develop an artificial intelligence algorithm for diagnosing sleep apnea by using oxygen saturation and heart rate variability data obtained from polysomnography. Starting from the 1st of this month, they will collaborate with the AI specialist company CodeVision for seven months to find ways to promote health improvement.

Professor Kim stated, “Sleep apnea can be a risk factor for myocardial infarction and stroke, so early screening is important. We will strive to provide more accurate and faster medical services based on the data obtained through this AI solution.”
