Small-scale workplaces that lack funds and technology to establish safety infrastructure do not need to worry about promoting disaster prevention projects. This is because they can utilize technical support services from private organizations.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister Lee Jeong-sik) and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Chairman Ahn Jong-joo) are providing free technical support using private disaster prevention organizations to prevent fatal accidents in small-scale workplaces.
In January, a public recruitment was held for private disaster prevention organizations to carry out the technical support project for small-scale workplace safety and health. About 310 organizations applied, and through a selection review, approximately 230 organizations qualified to perform the project were chosen.
On the 6th, job training for construction site personnel was conducted as part of the small-scale workplace safety and health technical support project.

They will focus on selecting high-risk workplaces in sectors such as manufacturing with fewer than 10 employees, construction with contract amounts under 100 million KRW, and service industries with fewer than 50 employees.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Agency conducted safety and health competency enhancement job training for the personnel visiting workplaces to provide high-quality technical support to small-scale workplaces. Over 850 personnel from about 230 organizations attended and completed the training.
This year, with the goal of reducing fatal accidents, technical support based on risk assessment will be provided through private disaster prevention organizations to offer industrial accident prevention services tailored to the workplace’s level.
Additionally, to effectively implement the ‘Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap’ announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in November last year, the personnel were trained on risk assessment-related standards, consulting methods, and ways to link with the Agency’s financial support projects so they can assist small-scale workplaces in establishing self-regulatory prevention systems.
Chairman Ahn Jong-joo of the Agency stated, “We will provide high-quality safety and health technical support to reduce fatal accidents in small-scale workplaces,” and added, “Since it is physically impossible for the Ministry of Employment and Labor or the Agency to inspect and guide all workplaces, we will strive to enable more workplaces to receive safety and health technical support through excellent private disaster prevention organizations.”
