Focus on Resident Safety... 19.5 Billion KRW Allocated with Emphasis on Urban Safety, Regional Economic Revitalization, and Livelihood Recovery
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced that it submitted the first supplementary budget proposal amounting to a total of 19.5 billion KRW to the district council on the 7th.
This supplementary budget was prepared to meet the diverse resident demands that emerged after the main budget was set and to proactively respond to rapidly changing internal and external environmental changes.
The district plans to focus all efforts on implementing 49 major projects, emphasizing urban safety enhancement, regional economic revitalization, and livelihood recovery.
First, to strengthen urban safety, 670 million KRW was allocated for installing evacuation facilities in semi-basement houses, 650 million KRW for maintenance of river facilities and sewer pipeline improvements, and 1.3 billion KRW for the establishment of intelligent CCTV systems, accelerating the creation of a safe local environment.
For regional economic revitalization, 1.9 billion KRW was allocated for additional issuance of Jungnang Love Gift Certificates, 300 million KRW for activating the Myeonmok Fashion Specific Development Promotion District, and 150 million KRW for supporting traditional markets and facility improvement projects.
To improve residential environments and urban development, 6.3 billion KRW was allocated for the construction of the Muk 1-dong Complex Building (including a Life Culture Center and History Library), 500 million KRW for a signboard improvement project, and 50 million KRW for relocating the Yongmasan-ro crosswalk.
Resident welfare is also carefully addressed. A total of 1.86 billion KRW was allocated to support operations of daycare centers, centers for families with disabilities, senior welfare facilities, as well as various welfare demands such as youth and multicultural family support. Additionally, 34 million KRW was allocated for distinctive resident welfare projects such as free bicycle repair and cleaning services and free vehicle inspections during holidays.
Post-COVID, various cultural and sports events and projects will be actively promoted to support diverse cultural and sports activities for residents. Allocations include 70 million KRW for operating the Mangwoo History and Culture Park shuttle bus, 100 million KRW for maintaining barefoot walking trails at Bonghwasan, 50 million KRW for maintaining the Jungnangcheon embankment trail and hosting exhibitions, and 35 million KRW for exchange programs with the Bulgarian performance group at the Seoul Rose Festival.
The first supplementary budget proposal will be finalized on the 26th of this month after review at the 261st Jungnang-gu Council extraordinary session held from the 17th to the 26th.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu stated, “The budget was prepared with a focus on rapid regional economic recovery, stabilizing residents’ lives, and ensuring safety,” adding, “We will swiftly implement projects that residents can feel through efficient financial execution in the first half of the year.”
