Sacheon-si Launches Optimized Smart City Planning Project

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam is evolving into a future-oriented advanced city called ‘Smart City Sacheon,’ which solves various urban problems such as traffic, environment, and safety using cutting-edge information and communication technology (ICT).

On the 10th, the city held a kickoff meeting for the ‘Sacheon City Smart City Plan Establishment Project’ at the city hall’s comprehensive situation room, attended by Mayor Park Dongsik and about 50 senior officials.

This project is being promoted to establish smart city development strategies and implementation systems to enhance urban competitiveness and improve citizens’ quality of life.

The city plans to create a feasible and specialized smart city model unique to Sacheon that can lead the region’s future, and to establish concrete implementation strategies that can be integrated with the policies and pledges of the 8th elected administration.

Mayor Park Dongsik stated, “We are facing an important time to leap forward as a hub region for Korea’s future growth industries, such as the establishment of the Aerospace Administration,” and urged, “Please concentrate all capabilities of every department and the project executing agencies so that this project can serve as a catalyst.”

Meanwhile, based on the analysis of Sacheon City’s current status, the smart city plan, which was developed through various opinion-gathering processes such as expert consultations and citizen living labs (citizen opinion workshops), is scheduled to be finalized by receiving approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport by the end of this year.
