64% of Job Seekers in the Trade Industry Cite Lack of Job Experience and Career Development Opportunities

Martial Arts and Trade Talent Employment: 3rd 'Job Skill UP!' Training Session Held

The biggest challenge faced by job seekers in the trade industry employment process was found to be the 'lack of opportunities for job experience and career development.'


The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on the 10th that, according to a survey conducted over about a month with 278 job seekers, 63.7% of respondents identified 'lack of opportunities for job experience and career development' as the greatest difficulty in seeking employment in the trade industry. Other challenges included 'lack of information about desired job roles and industries (56.5%)' and 'difficulty preparing for recruitment processes (documents, interviews, etc.) (54.0%).' Multiple responses were allowed in the survey.

Accordingly, KITA is conducting the '3rd Employment Skill UP!' training program over two days starting today at the Trade Tower in Samseong-dong to support youth job seekers in employment. This training, held in connection with the Regional Specialized Youth Trade Expert Development Project (GTE), is designed for those aspiring to work in trade office, overseas sales, purchasing, and logistics roles, with about 300 job seekers and university students expected to attend.


The training program consists of sessions to strengthen job competencies, including ▲how to select promising companies ▲know-how for writing self-introduction letters ▲interview preparation strategies ▲and special lectures by current professionals. In the special lecture titled 'Overseas Sales from the Perspective of a Real-Life Misaeng,' vivid lectures will cover ▲the characteristics and differences between general trading companies and manufacturers' overseas sales ▲the work processes and key schedules of general trading companies ▲business simulations ▲and challenges faced while working at general trading companies, providing job seekers with practical insights into the overseas sales field, which they often find vague.


Kim Seon-jeong, head of the Employment Training Office at KITA, said, "This training was prepared to indirectly provide on-site job experience to young job seekers who wish to enter the trade industry but lack related information," adding, "KITA plans to continue promoting various projects to nurture trade talent and support resolving job mismatches in the trade industry."


Meanwhile, KITA plans to hold the '2023 1st Job Together Job Fair' on the 27th at COEX in Samseong-dong to support youth job seekers in trade office, overseas sales, purchasing, logistics, and other trade-related roles.
