Gyeongnam Nonghyup Selects 'New Farmer of the Month' Awardee

Gyeongnam Nonghyup has selected the couples Park Hoseong and Lee Giseon from Hallim Nonghyup, and Jo Yongyeol and Kim Jeongae from Sanam Nonghyup as the recipients of the April "New Farmer of the Month" award, which is selected and presented by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

Park Hoseong and Lee Giseon, members of Hallim Nonghyup, have been cultivating rice and sweet persimmons for 37 years, achieving high annual income. The award-winning couple leads efforts to provide safe food for students by supplying eco-friendly pesticide-free rice to school meals, and they reduce agricultural management costs through eco-friendly compost spreading, rice bran farming methods, and snail farming methods.

They have been active in several farming groups such as the Hallim Gadong Eco-friendly Pesticide-free Rice Bran Farming Group, Sangdong Maeri Eco-friendly Rice Farming Group, and Jinyeong Bongha Eco-friendly Pesticide-free Rice Farming Group, actively sharing rice production know-how with other local farmers. Their pioneering role in improving local community farm income was recognized, leading to their selection as "New Farmers of the Month."

Jo Yongyeol and Kim Jeongae, members of Sanam Nonghyup, are farmers who have been cultivating strawberries in facilities for 23 years (16,528㎡).

The couple has contributed to the production of high-quality agricultural products by obtaining pesticide-free certification and GAP certification, and they installed a hydroponic system in their greenhouse facilities to reduce labor and increase production.

They were also honored for their role as mentors in agricultural technology exchange by spreading techniques related to greenhouse installation and strawberry seedling production and management to young farmers who have returned to farming.

The "New Farmer of the Month" award is presented by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, selecting and awarding 15 to 16 outstanding leading farmers nationwide every month.
