Gangjin-gun Holds 'Representative Food Development Consulting Evaluation Meeting'

‘Gangjin Hanwoo Yukhoe Tteokbokki’ Targeting MZ Generation’s Taste Preferences

On the 7th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do held a tasting event for consulting menus, including representative dishes developed by Chef Lee Won-il such as Yukhoe Tteokbokki and Shiitake Mushroom Yukjeon, at local restaurants. About 20 participants, including members of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association Gangjin Branch, attended the event.

According to the county on the 10th, this consulting project, aimed at attracting a large number of tourists by building Gangjin as a city of taste tailored to diverse customer preferences including the MZ generation, began in January by selecting five establishments and receiving customized recipes for each using local specialties from Chef Lee Won-il.

The dishes presented at the tasting event included ‘Tohajeot Bibim Guksu’, ‘Gangjin Hanwoo Yukhoe Tteokbokki’, and ‘Shiitake Mushroom Yukjeon (Rice Bowl)’. Chef Lee Won-il personally taught the recipes and provided education on the consulting process.

Attendees tasted the food and evaluated the flavors, and various opinions will be collected later to supplement and finalize the ‘Representative Food Development Consulting’ project.

Business owner Jang In-hwan, who participated in the tasting event, said, “I learned a lot working with Chef Lee Won-il,” and added, “I hope that the development of new dishes will continue to lead to the revitalization of the local commercial district.”

Lee Jun-beom, Director of Culture and Tourism, stated, “Through the development of Gangjin’s representative foods, we will actively promote Gangjin as a city of taste by developing and distributing unique menus using Gangjin’s ingredients via online platforms and SNS.” He added, “We will continue to promote Gangjin’s flavors through ongoing support and management.”

Gangjin-gun has set fostering Gangjin as a city of taste as one of the 60 major projects of the 8th local government administration. Since December last year, it has been promoting the ‘Representative Food Development Consulting Project’ to develop specialized flavors, aiming to create a new brand power for the city of taste and use it as a new driving force to attract 5 million tourists.

Earlier, in March, the county conducted a mukbang filming with power YouTuber ‘Soyoung’ to promote Gangjin Hanwoo Yukhoe Tteokbokki and Shiitake Mushroom Yukjeon, developed as Gangjin’s representative foods, which has recorded 160,000 views.
