Park Hyun-joo, Global Strategy Officer (GSO) of Mirae Asset, announced on the 10th that she will donate the entire dividend from Mirae Asset Global Investments for the year 2022.
Since 2010, Park Hyun-joo GSO has been donating all dividends received from Mirae Asset. The dividend donation for this year amounts to 1.6 billion KRW. The cumulative donation over 13 years has reached 29.8 billion KRW. In a letter to employees in 2008, she promised, "From 2010, I will use all dividends for the youth of this land."
The donations are used for talent development programs and social welfare projects through the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation and the Mirae Asset Hope Foundation. The Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation, established in 2000 with a personal endowment of 7.5 billion KRW by Park Hyun-joo GSO, has been carrying out social contribution projects focused on nurturing talent. In particular, as a Global Strategy Officer of Mirae Asset, she has laid the groundwork for Korean talents to grow into global talents based on the management philosophy of "looking to the future with an open mind and valuing talent."
A representative program is the "Mirae Asset Overseas Exchange Scholarship," which provides university students with opportunities to gain knowledge and cultural experiences worldwide through exchange student scholarships. Since selecting the first batch of scholars in 2007, 6,479 university students (as of the end of March) have been dispatched to 50 countries. In addition to the overseas exchange scholarship program, the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation runs various future generation support projects for children and youth, such as the "Youth Vision Project" and "My Own Book Dream Support."
Moreover, the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation and Mirae Asset Group affiliates in securities, asset management, and life insurance conduct various financial and career education programs, including global exploration programs like the "Global Leader Expedition" and "Global Cultural Experience Group," as well as programs visiting elementary schools nationwide such as "Our Child School Tour" and "Our Child Economic Class" for preschool children and their families. As of the end of March, the total number of participants in talent development programs run by the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation and its affiliates has reached 402,945.
Additionally, Mirae Asset Group has taken a leading role in social contribution activities for local communities, donating 500 million KRW in March last year for recovery and relief supplies for the East Coast wildfire damage, and another 500 million KRW in August to support recovery efforts for flood victims in the central region.
A Mirae Asset Group official stated, "Mirae Asset, practicing warm capitalism with consideration, has supported over 400,000 talents through close communication and meticulous cooperation between the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation and its affiliates. We will continue to strive to give back what we have received from customers and society and contribute to spreading a culture of sharing."
