Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) signed a "Business Agreement for the Establishment of a Hydrogen Charging Station" with Korea Gas Technology Corporation (President Jo Yong-don) at the county office video conference room on the 6th.
According to the county on the 10th, about 16 officials including Governor Park Woo-ryang and Korea Gas Technology Corporation President Jo Yong-don attended the agreement ceremony, which was prepared to realize Shinan-gun's 2050 carbon neutrality policy and expand the supply of zero-emission vehicles.

The hydrogen charging station, scheduled to be completed in the second half of next year, will be installed near the newly constructed road between Aphae and Songgong, behind the Agricultural Technology Center in Aphae-eup, with a project cost of 6 billion KRW. It will be built using an off-site method that supplies produced hydrogen via tube trailers, enabling charging of 780 kg per day (equivalent to 40 buses).
Through this agreement, the two organizations promised to actively cooperate in establishing hydrogen-based infrastructure, including the installation, operation, and safety management of the hydrogen charging station.
Hydrogen electric vehicles are vehicles powered by electricity obtained through the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only pure water. They are classified as zero-emission vehicles along with electric vehicles, and nationwide infrastructure construction projects are currently underway.
The county is promoting a project to support the purchase of three hydrogen vehicles and about 200 electric vehicles, which are zero-emission vehicles, in addition to establishing the hydrogen charging station.
A Korea Gas Technology Corporation official stated, "We consider it very meaningful to have signed this business agreement," and added, "We will actively cooperate so that Shinan-gun can continuously carry out green hydrogen policy projects."
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "We plan to accelerate the hydrogen transition by not only expanding the supply of hydrogen passenger cars but also gradually converting the existing Shinan-gun public buses to hydrogen electric buses, thereby establishing a hydrogen public transportation system." He added, "The hydrogen charging station project will greatly help revitalize the local economy and enhance the image of clean Shinan, as it will allow not only local residents but also hydrogen vehicle users from other regions to visit."
He continued, "We will actively secure budgets for projects necessary for carbon neutrality, such as expanding the supply of zero-emission vehicles and the construction of zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure," and added, "Through these efforts, Shinan-gun, registered as a world natural heritage site for its tidal flats in Korea, will respond proactively to the government's Green New Deal and carbon neutrality policies."
