Incheon City to Expand 2,500 Security and Disaster CCTVs by 2028... 67 Units per 10,000 Population

Incheon City announced on the 10th that it will invest 20 billion won from next year until 2028 to expand 2,500 CCTV cameras for crime prevention and disaster monitoring.

Through this, the number of crime prevention CCTVs per 10,000 people, which was 50.59 units as of last year, will be increased to 67 units by 2028, aiming to enhance the level of crime prevention in the region.

The city will prioritize replacing 2,711 CCTVs installed before 2013 and 1,269 CCTVs with less than 2 million pixels to fully replace outdated and low-resolution CCTVs that have exceeded their service life.

In particular, when installing new or replacing old CCTVs, intelligent CCTVs will be introduced to overcome the limitations of visual monitoring and eliminate blind spots in surveillance.

Intelligent CCTVs analyze video in real time to detect and classify moving objects and automatically identify predefined incidents, enabling 24-hour monitoring.

The current penetration rate of intelligent CCTVs in Incheon is about 13%, and the city plans to expand 250 units annually to increase the penetration rate to 20% by 2028.

Meanwhile, last year, the 10 district CCTV integrated control centers detected various incidents and accidents and reported 2,226 cases to the police, and provided 5,254 pieces of data to the police and fire stations for accident response, actively utilizing CCTV for various crime and disaster responses.
