The 'Child Rights Advocacy Group' was newly organized this year with the purpose of enabling children to recognize themselves as rights holders and to carry out activities to promote their given rights.

The group consists of 31 children and plans to engage in various advocacy activities such as drafting statements and policy proposals, conducting interviews, and collecting opinions from children in different regions to create an environment where children can live happily, starting with urging the enactment of the 'Basic Child Act' to be proposed this year.

Shin Dae-jin (17), a member of the Child Rights Advocacy Group who participated in the launching ceremony, said, "I have tried various activities before, but this is the first time I am doing advocacy activities for children as a representative of the region, so I am looking forward to it," adding, "I will actively work for one year as a member of the Green Umbrella Child Rights Advocacy Group to widely raise the voices of children."

Kim Eun-young, head of the Children’s Foundation Gwangju Regional Headquarters, said, "We hope that children themselves can create a happier and better world to live in," and added, "The Children’s Foundation will continue to actively advocate to ensure that children’s basic rights are guaranteed by law and that children’s voices are heard by the world."
