NHN Cloud celebrated the first anniversary of its establishment as an independent corporation on the 3rd. This year, the company aims to continue its growth by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology and establishing a unit system.
NHN Cloud was launched as an independent corporation on April 1, 2022, to further specialize the cloud services that NHN had been providing since 2014. Over the past year, it has secured clients across various sectors including public, finance, IT, and gaming, surpassing a corporate value of 1 trillion KRW.
Last year, NHN Cloud led the public sector cloud transition market with a 39% market share based on the number of contracted institutions. It consecutively secured financial sector clients such as Shinhan Financial Investment and Sangsangin Savings Bank, based on a multi-cloud strategy. On this foundation, NHN’s technology sector revenue, centered on NHN Cloud, increased by 41% compared to the previous year.
Since becoming an independent corporation, the number of service users, including individual users, has increased by 24% compared to before the launch. Notably, over 200 new solutions were added to the NHN Cloud Marketplace within one year, and 18 new Software as a Service (SaaS) products were released in areas such as data utilization, Kubernetes, and machine learning, developed in-house. The total number of partners has risen by 70% compared to immediately after the launch, reaching around 400. Among them, regional base partners working on local area projects have tripled to about 100.
NHN Cloud plans to actively combine its AI technology capabilities with its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) expertise. The company will continue AI technology research and prepare high-performance infrastructure dedicated to AI development purposes, as well as develop AI-specialized product groups such as AI contact centers.
To enable swift business execution, NHN Cloud will introduce a ‘Unit’ organizational system by product. A Unit is a small-scale decision-making structure led by the product or service manager, with decision-making stages streamlined up to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Based on this, NHN Cloud will strengthen the launch of fast and differentiated new services and customer-tailored product groups in the rapidly changing cloud industry environment.
Baek Domin, co-CEO of NHN Cloud, said, “Just as NHN Cloud was recognized for its high corporate value in the market during the investment winter in January this year, we will continue to steadily grow by solving our mission even amid rapidly changing external environments.”
