According to the city, through this agreement, the two local governments will actively engage in exchanges and cooperation in various fields for mutual development, including tourism, culture and arts, agriculture, education, and industry and economy.

They also plan to actively support exchanges at the private sector level to build a future-oriented relationship encompassing both the public and private sectors, strengthening friendship and goodwill as well as improving residents' convenience.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Yoon Byung-tae, District Mayor Kim Byung-nae, Chairman Lee Sang-man of Naju City Council, Vice Chairman Nam Ho-hyun of Nam-gu Council, Deputy Mayor Kang Young-gu of Naju, and 25 other representatives and officials from both local governments.

The sisterhood agreement includes provisions such as "mutual promotion of cultural and artistic infrastructure and strengthening the capabilities of art groups," "enjoyment of cultural life for residents of both regions," "support for distribution and market expansion of local specialties and agricultural products," "exchange between local students and schools to enjoy excellent education systems," and "joint cooperation in industry and economy to revitalize mutually adjacent areas."

After the signing ceremony, a cross-donation under the Hometown Love Donation System was made between Naju City, Nam-gu of Gwangju, and the two city councils, drawing attention.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said in his greeting, "Naju and Nam-gu, Gwangju are adjacent like neighbors closer than brothers, sharing one living and economic zone as local governments," adding, "Through active mutual exchanges with Nam-gu, which represents Gwangju as an education and cultural special zone and has implemented resident consensus policies, both cities will play a pivotal role in the Gwangju-Jeonnam metropolitan economic zone."

District Mayor Kim Byung-nae responded, "Historically, Naju was the center and capital of Jeolla Province and has embraced an opportunity for a new leap forward through the creation of an innovation city," adding, "As sister cities, we will actively review cooperation areas to maximize the strengths of Nam-gu and Naju and lead to practical mutual development."

After the sisterhood schedule, the Nam-gu visiting delegation visited Naju Moksa Naea, Naju Seoseongmun, Geumseonggwan, and Korea Energy Engineering University to explore ways of exchange and cooperation in various fields.

In particular, Nam-gu of Gwangju is a gateway to Gwangju connected to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint (Naju Bitgaram) Innovation City and is adjacent to Nampyeong-eup and Noan-myeon of Naju City, making it a city like a close neighbor.
