[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Chunsu Kim] Hampyeong County Health Center has rolled up its sleeves to eradicate tuberculosis in the local community.
According to the county on the 13th, a comprehensive tuberculosis screening will be conducted for elderly people using senior centers to detect tuberculosis early and prevent its spread.
The county plans to provide tuberculosis screening services to about 2,000 elderly people by visiting 186 senior centers from the 13th of this month until the end of the year.
This screening is conducted in cooperation with the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korean Tuberculosis Association, with a screening vehicle visiting villages to perform chest X-ray examinations and readings, as well as sputum tests (for those with suspicious findings).
Jung Myung-hee, the head of the health center, said, “We ask for the active cooperation and interest of residents to create a healthy and safe community.”
