The city plans to invest approximately 465 billion KRW in the construction of 24 arterial roads, with 359 billion KRW allocated this year to advance 13 projects.
Currently, the city is undertaking ▲Haengju-ro to 2nd Jayuro connecting road construction ▲Road construction around Sarihyun IC (south side of City Road No. 81) ▲Road construction around Sarihyun IC (City Road No. 82) ▲Traffic improvement project at Jayuro Haengju IC.
The Haengju-ro to 2nd Jayuro connecting road construction project plans to open the tentatively named Haengjusanseong IC to effectively disperse traffic concentrated at Gangmae IC.
After completing administrative procedures such as the mid-term local finance plan and investment review, the city will proceed with design and compensation for seven projects including ▲Minmaru to Goksan Station road construction ▲Hosuro (City Road No. 71) road expansion ▲Urban planning facility (Main Road No. 3-48) construction.
The city is also planning to invest 238.3 billion KRW to build 59 roads in collective and natural settlements where development restrictions in non-urban (village) areas have been lifted.
This year, 12 projects worth 65 billion KRW will be promoted, and eight projects including ▲Seongseok to Munbong (Small Road No. 1-213) road expansion and paving ▲Wonheung-dong Wonheungdong-gil (Small Road No. 2-305) road expansion and paving ▲Samsong settlement (Small Road No. 2-397) road construction are scheduled for completion.
For 30 projects causing resident inconvenience due to conflicts among residents and increased traffic from surrounding area development, design and compensation will be pursued with the goal of starting construction within the term of the 8th local government administration.
Additionally, to create pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, nine locations including Goyang-daero will be renovated with new sidewalk blocks this year, and directional signage will be enlarged to 90cm × 90cm.
Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang City, said, "We will accelerate road construction projects in preparation for increased traffic due to continuous population inflow into Goyang City," adding, "We expect that expanding road infrastructure will play a vital role as the artery of logistics, transportation, and tourism in the metropolitan area."
