Mokpo City to Provide 100,000 KRW Entrance Celebration Fund for Elementary School Students

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, is implementing the support for elementary school enrollment congratulatory money, one of the promises of the 8th elected administration, to strengthen the public nature of education and realize universal educational welfare.

According to the city on the 10th, to implement the elementary school enrollment congratulatory money support project, consultations for the establishment of social security systems with the Ministry of Health and Welfare were completed in November last year, and related ordinances were enacted in February, so starting from mid-next month, enrollment congratulatory money will be provided to new elementary school students.

The support target is first-time elementary school entrants who are registered residents of Mokpo City or are actually residing there, and 100,000 KRW will be provided.

Applications for support can be submitted by parents or guardians who are effectively raising the child by visiting the local administrative welfare center from mid-next month, and after qualification verification, the congratulatory money will be paid in Mokpo Sarang Gift Certificates, a local currency card, which can be used until the end of this year.

Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, “We hope that the enrollment congratulatory money will help reduce the educational burden on new students' families,” and added, “We will actively discover and promote educational policies for nurturing talent and future dream trees.”
