SK Gas Receives CDP 'Carbon Management Honors' Award

Global Environmental Issue Response Activities Earn 'A-' Grade

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] SK Gas announced on the 10th that it received the ‘Carbon Management Sector Honors Energy & Utility Category’ award at the ‘2022 Climate Change Response and Water Management Excellence Companies’ ceremony hosted by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Korea Committee.

CDP is a UK-based non-profit organization. It is a global disclosure project that requests information disclosure from major listed companies worldwide on key environmental issues and conducts analysis and evaluation based on this information.

The CDP Korea Committee evaluates the global environmental issue response activities of top domestic listed companies annually, assigning eight grades ranging from Leadership (A, A-) to Disclosure (D, D-), and selects and announces outstanding companies.

The ‘Carbon Management Sector Honors,’ divided into nine sectors, conducts differentiated evaluations according to industry. SK Gas earned the honor of ‘Carbon Management Sector Honors’ in the Energy & Utility category with a Leadership A- grade.

SK Gas received top evaluations across all ESG-related management items, including carbon reduction and net-zero achievement efforts across the entire value chain covering Scope 1, 2, and 3, risk management processes, governance, business strategy, and financial planning.

Woobyeong Jae, SK Gas ESG Officer, said, “SK Gas has established governance for climate change response, built response strategies and a net-zero roadmap based on climate change scenarios, and is executing them as planned. Going forward, as a Net Zero Solution Provider, SK Gas will lead carbon reduction and ESG management by contributing not only to SK Gas but also to the net-zero efforts of its customers who receive energy from SK Gas.”

Meanwhile, based on its ESG master plan and active ESG management practices, SK Gas has continuously received high evaluations from domestic and international ESG rating agencies such as MSCI AA and KCGS A.
