Seocho-gu Sends Cold-Protection Blankets and Diapers for Infants and Toddlers to Earthquake-Affected Areas in Turkey on the 10th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey on the 6th, resulting in over 20,900 deaths (as of February 10), Seocho-gu is extending immediate aid to the Turkish people.
The relief supplies prepared by Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) consist of cold-protection blankets and diapers for infants and toddlers, deemed necessary for those affected by the earthquake, and will be delivered to the earthquake-affected areas in Turkey on the 10th.
The district plans to send the relief supplies safely to the earthquake-affected areas in Turkey through Sisli District, Istanbul, a sister city abroad.
Since signing the sister city agreement in 2007, Sisli District in Istanbul and Seocho-gu have cooperated internationally during disaster situations. In May 2020, Seocho-gu supported Sisli District with antibacterial films to prevent COVID-19, and in October 2022, following the Itaewon crowd crush accident, Sisli District sent a letter of condolence, demonstrating solidarity and cooperation.
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “We send our heartfelt condolences to Turkey,” adding, “We hope these relief supplies will provide even a little help to the Turkish people who are going through difficulties.”
