[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Disney's live-action film 'The Little Mermaid' did not receive a rating suitable for all ages.

According to the American movie site FilmRatings.com on the 5th, 'The Little Mermaid' was rated PG. This rating requires parental guidance and is suitable for viewers aged 7 and older. The site explained the reason for the rating as "there are action and hazardous elements, and some scary images are included."

Typically, animated live-action films receive a G rating, which is suitable for all ages. However, major foreign media reported that it is not surprising for Disney live-action films to receive a PG rating since they are made for children rather than infants.

'The Little Mermaid' is a live-action remake of the 1989 animated film of the same name. It gained attention for casting Black singer and actress Halle Bailey as the protagonist Ariel.

Regarding Halle Bailey's casting, the director expressed confidence, saying she is "an exceptionally talented actress." He added, "Our goal was to select a strong, passionate, beautiful, smart, and clever Ariel," and said, "She was the perfect Ariel, cast immediately after the acting test." Producer Sean Bailey also agreed, stating, "I think Halle Bailey is the right choice."

'The Little Mermaid' is set to be released this May.
