[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Singer Lim Young-woong donated 300 million KRW to support marginalized neighbors and vulnerable groups facing crises amid the economic downturn in Gyeonggi Province.
The Community Chest of Korea, also known as the Fruit of Love, announced on the 23rd that Lim Young-woong donated 300 million KRW in the name of his fandom, ‘Youngwoong Era.’
Lim Young-woong gathered 200 million KRW himself and 100 million KRW from his agency, Mulgogi Music, to donate a total of 300 million KRW to the Fruit of Love, as a way to repay the support from his fan club ‘Youngwoong Era’ who cheered him on through donation campaigns. Including this donation, the cumulative amount donated by Lim Young-woong and his agency reaches 800 million KRW.
Previously, Lim Young-woong also made headlines by donating 200 million KRW each year on his birthday in 2022 and 2023 in the name of ‘Youngwoong Era’ to the Fruit of Love. In March, he donated 100 million KRW to help victims in regions such as Uljin, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok, Gangwon Province, who suffered from large-scale wildfires, continuing his practice of sharing.
Along with the star’s good deeds, the fan club’s donation activities are creating a positive influence. In June last year, ‘Youngwoong Era’ donated about 37 million KRW to the Seoul branch of the Fruit of Love and joined the Sharing Leaders Club, demonstrating a mature fan culture. In March this year, they donated 260 million KRW to the Fruit of Love to support Lim Young-woong’s wildfire relief donation.
Lim Young-woong, who has been actively engaged this year with a nationwide tour concert and album releases, proved his immense popularity by winning 20 awards in the second half of the year alone, including Male Artist at the 2022 MAMA Awards, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and TOP10 at the Melon Music Awards.
Lim Young-woong will hold concerts at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on February 11-12 next year. The LA concert sold out all seats immediately upon ticket release.
