Muan-gun New Government Office Site Decided at Current County Office Location

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 19th, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do held the Muan-gun Government Building Construction Promotion Committee meeting and decided to build the new Muan-gun government office on the current government office site.

The Muan-gun Government Building Construction Promotion Committee held resident briefing sessions in 9 towns and townships from November 23 to December 5 to gather opinions. As a result, 57% preferred the current government office site, 13% chose Hwangto Park in Muan-eup, 9% selected farmland opposite Chodang University in Muan-eup, 14% chose block 16 of the Orlyong New Town government office site, and 7% selected other locations.

Based on the survey results from the resident briefing sessions, the committee held a deliberation meeting, where 19 out of 25 promotion committee members attended and unanimously decided that the current government office site is suitable for the new government office site.

Going forward, the county plans to complete the feasibility study and basic plan establishment by April next year, and by the second half of 2023, proceed with administrative procedures including shared property management plan, local finance investment review, formation of a government office construction TF team, county management plan and changes to county management facilities, design competition and public hearing with residents by 2024, detailed design service, and construction project management plan, aiming to start construction in the first half of 2025.

A county official stated, “The newly constructed government office will be built with approximately 80 billion KRW of county funds as a building befitting the status of a central city in the southwest region prepared for 21st-century globalization. We will devote all our efforts to completing a future-oriented building that can respond to the rapidly increasing administrative demand and realize open administration communicating with residents.”
