[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Presidential Office announced on the 13th that it has displayed a large photo signed by the national soccer team players and memorabilia such as the captain's armband worn by team captain Son Heung-min when advancing to the Round of 16 at the World Cup in the lobby on the first floor of the Yongsan Presidential Office building.


In a press release on the same day, the Presidential Office stated, "The large photo signed by the players was moved from the photo wall installed at the welcome banquet for the Qatar World Cup national soccer team held at the Blue House State Guest House on the 8th."

Also, the captain's armband, signed ball, soccer shoes, and uniform worn by team captain Son Heung-min (30, Tottenham) in the match against Portugal that secured advancement to the Round of 16 were displayed inside a transparent plastic box.

During the welcome banquet, Son Heung-min and the youngest team member Lee Kang-in (21, Mallorca) presented President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife with uniforms and soccer balls signed by the players. In return, President Yoon gifted a uniform with a handwritten message saying, "Again Korea, Congratulations to the people on advancing to the Qatar Round of 16."


The Presidential Office installed large monitors on both sides of the photo wall to show dynamic footage of our national team players scoring goals and scenes from the welcome banquet.


The Presidential Office explained the purpose, saying, "The exhibition of commemorative photos and memorabilia celebrating the advancement to the Round of 16 on the first floor lobby of the Yongsan Presidential Office is to share the moving moments of great hope shown by not giving up until the very end with visitors to the Presidential Office."
