[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City will hold a "Next-Generation Busan-Type Express Railway (BuTX) Introduction Public Hearing" at 2 p.m. on the 12th in the 26th-floor conference room of City Hall.
This public hearing was organized to announce the "Next-Generation Busan-Type Express Railway Introduction Plan," which concretizes the optimal vehicle system and route by reviewing the feasibility of various next-generation vehicle systems and projects through the "Pre-Feasibility Study for the Introduction of Urban-Type Ultra-High-Speed Transportation Infrastructure," and to gather diverse opinions from related experts and citizens.
The vehicle systems suitable for the "Next-Generation Busan-Type Express Railway" to be announced on this day include a comprehensive comparison and review of various railway vehicle systems such as the hypertube system mentioned in the mayor's campaign promises, high-speed electric trains, and hydrogen electric trains. Additionally, in collaboration with the Korea Railroad Research Institute, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based autonomous operation system will be introduced to enable safe 24-hour operation.
Regarding the routes and stations, six stations are planned from Gadeok New Airport through Bukhang to Osiria Tourist Complex, based on a comprehensive analysis of surrounding area development plans, population density, floating population, and traffic characteristics to secure the project's feasibility.
On-site attendance is limited to 50 people, and online viewing is available to anyone through the city's official YouTube channel "BusanTube" and internet broadcasting "Bada TV."
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "The next-generation Busan-type express railway plan will not only resolve the severe traffic problems in downtown Busan but also enhance the competitiveness of Gadeok New Airport as an international airport, and serve as infrastructure for the successful hosting of Expo 2030 Busan." He added, "I hope this will be a communication opportunity where transportation experts and citizens contribute their interest and support for a better future of Busan."
