About 20 personnel, including officials from the Metro, the police unit, Seoul city, and local police, wore sashes to raise awareness about the necessity of following subway crime prevention and safety rules during congestion (such as keeping to the right and not looking at smartphones) in the Jamsil Station concourse, distributing promotional materials (wet tissues and bandages) to passengers. Afterwards, they visited the restrooms at Jamsil Station, using detectors to check for illegal camera installations, and conducted joint inspections and patrols of the facilities.

To prevent crimes in the subway, the Metro, in cooperation with related organizations, has established and is implementing various measures such as installing safety mirrors in escalators and staircases vulnerable to illegal filming due to their structure, and mirror sheets in restrooms.

Safety mirrors refer to convex mirrors installed on the walls of escalators or staircases to capture the behavior of people behind, effectively preventing sexual crimes such as illegal filming.

Mirror sheets are mirror films attached to walls at restroom entrances, allowing immediate detection of suspicious behavior from people following behind. They have been pilot-installed at stations such as Chungmuro Station.

In stations near entertainment facilities where nightlife is concentrated, ‘Safe Zones’ with enhanced lighting and focused CCTV surveillance are being expanded to prevent crimes such as late-night sexual harassment.

Furthermore, cooperation between subway security officers and the Subway Police Unit, who are responsible for ensuring safety within the subway, is being strengthened. Joint patrols (one security officer + one police officer, two-person teams) are additionally conducted during commuting and vulnerable hours at 12 high-crime and vulnerable stations (Gangnam Station, Jamsil Station, Sillim Station, Gasan Digital Complex Station, Sadang Station, Seoul Station, Yeouido Station, Samseong Station, Yangjae Station, Sindorim Station, Express Bus Terminal Station, Hongik University Station).
