[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS Retail announced on the 24th that it will pursue obtaining carbon footprint certification for its private brand (PB) products.

On the previous day, GS Retail signed a business agreement with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute to promote win-win growth among large, medium, and small enterprises, respond to climate change, and spread an eco-friendly consumption culture. Both parties agreed to cooperate in spreading an eco-friendly consumption culture through environmental label certification for GS Retail's private brand products.

GS Retail plans to launch private brand products certified with environmental labels in the future and sell them through GS25 and GS The Fresh. Additionally, various marketing activities will be supported to promote the purchase of these products. The Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute plans to support GS Retail by providing free education to manufacturers of GS Retail's private brand products and ensuring smooth progress of the environmental label certification review.

A GS Retail official stated, "We have long strived to expand ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management in the product sector as well," adding, "This business agreement is expected to serve as a catalyst for the full-scale launch of environmentally certified products, and we will contribute to spreading an eco-friendly consumption culture through various incentives."
