Mayor Hong met with artist Kim on September 2nd and 4th, and on the 19th of this month, they jointly attended the special exhibition of Yongbieocheonga at the Gimhae Hangeul Museum.
According to the city on the 20th, the Gimhae Hangeul Museum, which signed a business agreement with the National Hangeul Museum as the first public museum, unveiled the entire original text of Yongbieocheonga for the first time nationwide on the occasion of the 576th Hangeul Day.
Yongbieocheonga, published in 1447, the 29th year of King Sejong of Joseon, is the first book written in Hangeul using Hunminjeongeum. It is a song containing the history of the founding of Joseon, the legitimacy of the Joseon royal family, and the spirit of serving the people.
The museum exhibited 10 volumes and 5 books containing 125 pages of lyrics from the 9th to the 19th, and will display facsimiles until November 13th.
The city plans to accelerate cultural urban management promoted by Mayor Hong by collaborating with artist Kim to create a tentative Kim Youngwon Sculpture Space, initially receiving and installing three works by the end of this year.
Mayor Hong said, “My values aligned with artist Kim’s philosophy that culture is something easily enjoyed, like a thirsty person drinking water or a person with sore legs sitting on a chair to rest, and that we aim to be a happy and inclusive city where no one is excluded from the fruits of growth and fruition, inspired by King Sejong’s communication leadership.”
He added, “I believe the cultural and artistic fields can develop infinitely through diverse communication. Going forward, I will continue to consider and implement projects that can improve citizens’ cultural welfare through various communications.”
