MuseLive recently announced the launch of the platform service ‘KiT Producer,’ which allows anyone with content to release and sell their own albums without production costs.
The greatest dream of musicians who create music is to release their own albums.
Ultimately, musicians are in an unproductive and unrealistic market structure, relying on the low profitability of music streaming to continue creating. In this reality, the ‘KiT Producer’ service provides musicians with the opportunity to release physical albums without bearing production costs and to generate album sales revenue that is significantly higher than streaming.
Additionally, albums released through the KiT Producer service apply a new album format called ‘KiT,’ and are released as ‘KiT albums,’ a new concept of physical albums that operate on smart devices.
Currently, popular global K-pop artists such as BLACKPINK, NCT, and SEVENTEEN continuously release ‘KiT albums,’ which provide not only music but also videos, photos, and fan communities. They are also sold through global online stores and dedicated vending machines located at 11 CGV branches including Hongdae and Daehangno.
Moreover, ‘KiT albums,’ used in 196 countries worldwide, are officially counted as albums on domestic music charts as well as various global charts in the UK, Australia, Germany, and more.
The ‘KiT Producer’ service, which is about to officially launch, is currently in beta service but has already seen over 100 indie musicians such as The Bowls, Daylotus, Ranalog, Zunn Stone, and recently Minu and Jo Hyunyoung release KiT albums, achieving thousands of sales.
The ‘KiT Producer’ service is scheduled for official launch in late October, and the release of ‘KiT albums’ by global artists such as Jason Mraz and Weezer is also confirmed.
Seok Cheol, CEO of MuseLive Co., Ltd., stated, “‘KiT Producer’ service was developed not only to ensure that musicians’ creations receive fair and reasonable compensation but also to provide music fans with more diverse cultural consumption satisfaction and services.”
He added, “To enable musicians to release physical albums without bearing production costs, we have established a smart factory system for production automation, creating an innovative new album market structure for the future.”
