[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gyeongbuk Technopark held a meeting for companies participating in the ‘This Year’s Global Small Giant Regional Autonomy Program.’

The meeting was attended by Ha In-seong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, along with representatives and staff from 10 companies participating in the Regional Autonomy Program, to provide a mid-term report on the program and listen to any difficulties faced.

Key proposals during the meeting included requests for increased funding and adjustments to the project duration for the next fiscal year, as well as suggestions to diversify support projects in line with the purpose of the Regional Autonomy Program.

The Global Small Giant Regional Autonomy Program is a demand-tailored support program that allows companies to select up to three desired programs from technology support?including prototype production, product upgrading, patents, certification, technical guidance, and R&D planning support?and commercialization support, which consists of design, marketing, and commercialization consulting.

This year’s Global Small Giants receive benefits of up to 30 million KRW, while those selected in 2021 receive up to 10 million KRW in support.

This year, nine selected companies and six companies selected in 2021 have been carrying out the support program since July, and plan to complete the program by the end of October, followed by results and evaluation around November.

Ha In-seong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, stated, “I hope that through the Global Small Giant Regional Autonomy Program, local small and medium-sized enterprises with innovation and growth potential will have the opportunity to grow into companies leading export markets and regional economic growth.”
