[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] Samsung Electronics announced on the 5th that it will participate in the 'Korea Electronics Show (KES 2022)' held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul until the 7th of this month, and operate the C-Lab exhibition hall for the first time.

At KES, Samsung Electronics has separately prepared a 135㎡ C-Lab exhibition hall next to its booth under the theme "Meet Innovation at C-Lab," unveiling innovative products and solutions related to its in-house venture program 'C-Lab Inside' and external startup fostering program 'C-Lab Outside.' It will also showcase key achievements, indicators, and introduction videos of C-Lab over the past 10 years.

The C-Lab Inside projects introduced at this KES are the metaverse learning and exercise platform (MetaLearning) and augmented reality (AR)-based interior solution (Interiorble), both selected earlier this year. They will exhibit minimum viable products (MVPs) developed during the C-Lab process and plan to gather diverse feedback from visitors to develop products that meet market demands.

Products and solutions from four startups spun off from C-Lab Inside between 2016 and 2020, as well as four startups nurtured by C-Lab Outside from 2018 to 2020, will also be exhibited. These include a wearable 360 camera and safety monitoring solution (Linkflow), AI skin analysis and recommendation service (Lululab), dual tea capsule machine and herbal/health tea capsules (Medipresso), among others.

Among them, Linkflow received the KES Innovation Award in the Converged New Technology category, and Medipresso in the Smart Living category. The KES Innovation Award is given to innovative and creative products leading the global market. This year, a total of 40 products and technologies were listed as awardees. Linkflow, a wearable camera company, spun off in October 2016 and has won the CES Innovation Award in the US for three consecutive years.

Samsung Electronics continues to support not only startups spun off years ago but also startups whose C-Lab Outside nurturing period has ended by maintaining communication and providing opportunities to participate in IT exhibitions including CES in the US and KES. At the CES held in January, 13 companies including 4 from C-Lab Inside and 9 from C-Lab Outside met global companies and consumers at the C-Lab pavilion and held investment and purchase consultations.

Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics and Chairman of the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Industry Promotion Association, said, "We will continue to strive to foster IT startups with technological capabilities so that they can grow together with Samsung Electronics."

Samsung operates C-Lab (Inside and Outside) as a win-win cooperation program. Starting with C-Lab Inside as an in-house venture program in December 2012, it opened C-Lab to the outside from 2018 to revitalize domestic startups and create youth jobs, establishing C-Lab Outside.
