[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education has decided to respond according to weather conditions in preparation for Typhoon Nanmadol, the 14th typhoon.

Shortened and remote classes, as well as discretionary holidays, will be autonomously implemented by each regional education office.

The provincial education office instructed on the 18th that each regional education support office should decide on normal attendance and shortened classes on the 19th, considering the typhoon's impact in each area, and inform parents and students accordingly.

Following the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast that the Gyeongnam region will be within the typhoon's influence, pre-inspections of typhoon-vulnerable areas were conducted, and work to remove hazards such as school routes and retaining walls was carried out.

At school facility construction sites, materials and equipment are being moved or secured to prevent them from being blown away or toppled by strong winds, and safety guidance is being strengthened to prepare for flood damage.

A provincial education office official said, "As with Typhoon Hinnamnor, we will do our best to protect the learning environment from damage," and added, "Please focus on the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecasts and guidance from each education support office."
