[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Dongkuk Steel announced on the 29th that it has introduced Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
RPA is a technology where robotic software automatically handles rule-based and repetitive tasks. Dongkuk Steel decided to adopt RPA, believing that automating rule-based repetitive tasks such as data registration in internal and external systems and daily status reporting would improve work productivity.
In the first half of the year, Dongkuk Steel conducted actual PoC (Proof of Concept) procedures with specialized RPA companies and ultimately selected the solution from UiPath, the global No.1 RPA provider.
With this RPA adoption, Dongkuk Steel automated about 20 tasks, including verification work for purchase and sales VAT reporting conducted monthly at all Dongkuk Steel business sites, registration of certificates and reports according to country-specific conditions when exporting overseas, and preparation of various daily reports.
Dongkuk Steel expects that by having robots handle repetitive and time-consuming tasks through this RPA adoption, employees’ workload will be reduced, allowing them to focus on higher value-added work.
Dongkuk Steel plans to prioritize RPA implementation in areas such as finance and logistics this year, enhance the processes, and consider expanding its application company-wide, including all business sites, sales, and purchasing, by 2025.
