[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Geochang County Council in Gyeongnam opened the 265th 1st regular session from the 23rd to September 8th, lasting 17 days.

This regular session is scheduled to handle the 2022 administrative affairs audit, the 2nd supplementary budget proposal for 2022, approval of the 2021 fiscal year settlement, ordinances, and general bills. On the 23rd, the 1st plenary session confirmed the 17-day agenda.

During the plenary session, County Governor Gu In-mo gave a proposal explanation on the 2nd supplementary budget for 2022, and Kim Seong-yoon, the Planning and Budget Officer, provided an overview of the budget proposal. The period for the administrative affairs audit was decided to be 9 days from the 29th to September 6th.

Following the plenary session, a special budget and settlement committee was formed to review the approval of the 2021 fiscal year settlement, the 2nd supplementary budget proposal for 2022, and the 2nd amendment to the fund operation plan. Shin Jung-yang was appointed as the chairperson and Kim Hyang-ran as the vice-chairperson.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Lee Hong-hee requested, “Please carefully examine whether the projects our county pursued last year were operated as planned and if there were any issues with the direction during the 2021 settlement and administrative affairs audit,” and “Thoroughly review the budget to be used for the second half projects and faithfully perform the council’s fundamental role of checking and monitoring the executive branch.”

He also asked the executive branch to “recognize that this session is an opportunity to be evaluated by the residents for the projects pursued by our county last year, and to sincerely respond to council members’ inquiries and suggestions with an open attitude.”

Chairman Lee appealed to the residents, saying, “Although this 1st regular session is held less than two months after the opening of the 9th Geochang County Council, the council members are tirelessly working for the development of Geochang County and the improvement of residents’ quality of life,” and asked for their support and encouragement.
