[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Korea Railroad Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters announced on the 3rd that on the 2nd, it conducted an emergency relief measures and passenger evacuation drill for on-site accident response headquarters in case of railway disasters and accidents that may occur inside the Jeolla Line Yeocheon~Yeosu Expo Station Railway Long Tunnel (Yeocheon Tunnel).


The drill focused on securing customer evacuation routes in the direction of the wind and providing guiding warning lights to ensure visibility of the evacuation route in case of fire or derailment occurring inside the long tunnel over 5km, aiming to improve rapid and initial response capabilities.


A Korail official stated, “Through this drill, we analyzed the vulnerabilities of customer evacuation inside the tunnel and will strive to secure smoke control facilities and safety functions of the facilities.”
