[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, was selected as the metropolitan government head who created the best election pledges in the 8th local election of the civilian government.
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters announced on the 2nd that Governor Kim Dong-yeon was chosen as the grand prize winner in the election pledge category at the '2022 Manifesto Promise Awards.'
This award, hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters to discover and spread excellent manifesto cases, evaluated the election pledges and election brochures announced in the recent nationwide simultaneous local elections based on five indicators including ▲specificity of goals ▲clarity of priorities ▲stability of funding plans, as well as the heads of local governments' ▲philosophy and vision ▲democracy in the drafting process. Local government heads who scored over 70 points were selected as grand prize winners.
Governor Kim received high praise for his election pledge book, which deepened and developed three visions?'More Opportunities (provincial government supporting private innovation and growth),' 'More Equitable Opportunities (provincial government enhancing the quality of life for all),' and 'Better Opportunities (provincial government promising a valuable future life)'?under the goal of 'Gyeonggi, the center of change and opportunity,' along with three provincial government philosophies: innovation, opportunity, and integration.
In particular, he was solely selected as the grand prize winner among metropolitan government heads by presenting life-close pledges tailored to different groups such as dual-income couples, women, the elderly, disabled care, and Gyeonggi Youth Chance, as well as strategies and implementation methods to solve livelihood issues.
Governor Kim stated, "Now that the pledges have received good evaluations, all that remains is to faithfully keep the promises," and expressed his commitment to the pledge implementation by saying, "I will do my best to provide residents with more opportunities, more equitable opportunities, and better opportunities to make Gyeonggi Province the capital of opportunity."
