Although the official launch ceremony was held on the 27th, from March of this year, applicants residing in Busan were recruited to participate in the promotion group, and 109 people from 38 countries, including international students and the general public, were selected.
Since April, they have been engaged in SNS promotional activities using Korean and their native languages, supporting events to attract the 2030 Busan World Expo, and participating in content filming for the 2nd competitive PT held in Paris, France, in June.
In the second half of the year, they plan to continue SNS promotional activities and support events to attract the 2030 Busan World Expo. Arirang International Broadcasting Station also plans to produce and broadcast a program highlighting the activities of ‘Expo Friends.’
They will produce content promoting the 2030 Busan World Expo and Busan in both Korean and native languages to convey the will and enthusiasm for Busan’s Expo bid not only domestically but also internationally. They will also continue various activities supporting events such as the visit of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) onsite inspection team to Busan next year.
On the morning of the 27th, the ‘Expo Friends’ launch ceremony was held, attended by about 100 people including officials from Busan City and the Busan International Exchange Foundation and about 80 members of ‘Expo Friends.’
Jo Yujang, Director of the Tourism MICE Industry Bureau of Busan City, said, “We express our gratitude to the foreign residents from 38 countries around the world who love Korea and Busan and have stepped forward to support the attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo,” adding, “We will encourage more participation from both domestic and foreign people to create a nationwide boom.”
