[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Retail tech company Kurly announced on the 28th that it will pre-open its beauty-specialized vertical service, ‘Beauty Kurly’.
Kurly planned this service to dramatically improve the shopping experience for customers purchasing beauty products on its platform. Although both food and beauty products are used daily, their purchasing patterns differ, so the user experience should also be different.
With the pre-opening of Beauty Kurly, a separate tab has appeared at the top of the Market Kurly app. This allows anyone to easily access Beauty Kurly.
The product categories have also been subdivided to help customers quickly find the products they want. The previous two product categories?skincare & makeup, hair & body & oral care?have been expanded to 16 categories: skincare, makeup, cleansing, hair, body, oral care, perfume, men’s, and more.
Reflecting the product characteristics where brand preference influences purchasing decisions, the selection includes a wide range from popular products to imported luxury brands. The number of products available at the Beauty Kurly pre-opening is about 5,000.
The background for launching Beauty Kurly lies in the high preference for beauty products among Market Kurly customers. One out of seven Market Kurly customers has already purchased beauty products, and as of the first half of this year, beauty products are sold at a rate of one every 4 seconds, showing high popularity. Kurly plans to hold the grand opening of Beauty Kurly in the fourth quarter of this year.
Cheon Kyungwon, Kurly’s beauty team leader, said, “Because beauty products are applied directly to the body, quality and trust are as important as with fresh food,” and added, “We will strive to provide the best customer experience specialized in beauty, meeting customers’ expectations for fast and convenient use of beauty products.”
Meanwhile, to use ‘Beauty Kurly,’ an update of the Market Kurly app is required. The Android version will be available for update starting from the afternoon of the 28th. The iOS version and PC and mobile websites will be updated sequentially by the end of July. (End)
