[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct customized financial and credit on-site education, including allowance management methods for elementary school students and financial fraud prevention for the elderly, to prevent damage from illegal private loans.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 28th that it will start accepting applications for the 'Gyeonggi On-the-Go Financial (Credit) Education Project,' which will begin on the 4th of next month.

This project, the first of its kind among local governments nationwide, was planned to prevent damage from illegal private loans that are rampant among financially vulnerable groups such as youth and the elderly, taking advantage of the economic crisis situation.

To strengthen credit management for low-credit and low-income vulnerable groups, instructors from the Credit Recovery Committee will visit directly to provide education.

The educational content will be customized according to the visiting group, covering life financial planning, rational consumption and savings, debt management methods, credit management methods, and financial fraud prevention.

For elementary school students, participatory education using board games will be provided to help them learn about finance and credit easily and enjoyably.

Youth and university students in need of financial support will be guided on youth-specialized financial support systems, while the elderly, a financially vulnerable group, will be informed about financial fraud prevention methods and digital finance.

If desired, non-face-to-face online (video) education is also available. In cooperation with the Gyeonggi Province Low-Income Financial Welfare Support Center, 'one-day on-site debt counseling' will also be conducted.

Yoon Young-mi, Director of the Welfare Policy Division of the province, emphasized, "Since credit and financial education are urgently needed to stabilize the lives of financially vulnerable groups, we have launched the first on-site financial and credit education project among local governments nationwide in collaboration with the Credit Recovery Committee," adding, "We will contribute to improving the lives of residents with more fun and easier educational content."
